Afternoon Delight.

Yesterday I had a picnic in the sun, followed by a scooter ride to the zoo. I can't believe I hadn't been to the Wellington zoo earlier. I was beyond excited at all of the animals. I felt like one of those tourists getting excited about the most normal of things, taking photos of everything. If you haven't seen my tumblr, I have a slight obsession with animals.
These four animals were my favourites of the day.

Tell Me Quickly.

Ah, life is going so fast at the moment. Not really, but sort of. It just feels like it is. Slightly scary, but not really.

You have a right to experiment with your life. You will make mistakes. And they are right too. No, I think there was too rigid a pattern. You came out of an education and are supposed to know your vocation. Your vocation is fixed, and maybe ten years later you find you are not a teacher anymore or you’re not a painter anymore. It may happen. It has happened. I mean Gauguin decided at a certain point he wasn’t a banker anymore; he was a painter. And so he walked away from banking. I think we have a right to change course. But society is the one that keeps demanding that we fit in and not disturb things. They would like you to fit in right away so that things work now.

A Small WOW.

Have you noticed the World of Wearable Arts window displays yet?  I officially have a favorite. This is what happens (apparently) when you  take your wellington map book, rip it to shreds, and then get caught up in a crazy balloon fetish...

WOW is wonderul, I love the vibe around the city from it.
It really is the most amazing, most spectacular, most creative and crazy extravaganza of wearable art, all wrapped up in a stunning Cirque du Soleil-type show where art & fashion collide.

And this is where Small Acorns meets WOW.
Love at first sight.

Finn in Slow Boats.

Liam Finn performs Cold Feet live at Slow Boat Records in Wellington...
There is quite a bit to find adorable in this video.

That Day on Cuba St.

This is that day on Cuba St.
It snowed in my city, and everyone smiled at each other.

Just Wait.

Too many people say they "can't".
When people say they want to do something but can't,
I always ask if they've ever even tried this thing they "can't" do.
They usually say no.

They're probably very impatient people.

Explore a Day.

Yesterday I went on the most wonderful ride on the back of a pink scooter.
I saw parts of Wellington that I didn't even know existed.
Exploring is a necessity.

Scootering also.

22 and a Day.

I love birthdays.
My flat mate turned 22 yesterday. I made sure she had balloons in the morning and a gift to wake up to...
Then in the evening we booked the most delightful dining room in one of our favorite cafes Olive
Wine and dessert.
She's now lying on my bed with too much wine in her head. It's slightly fabulous.
Anyway, point being that birthdays are so delicious. I just love that we all get this one day a year to do wonderful things and make each other pretty cards with messages like "you're awesome".

Animation Now.

Animation. First attempt.

This was an extremely cheesy one I made for a friend. I'm suppose to be the red head at the end.

Learn.

I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.

No 8.

Crap Hound is pure imagery. High-contrast line art, culled from vintage catalogs, advertising, obscure books, and found ephemera. Artfully arranged iconography, a visual survey of dozens of popular and lesser known superstitions.  Brilliance, really.
